In a Free Word first, the launch of Writers Bloc will be livestreamed direct from the Free Word Centre to your computer.

Writers Bloc is a pioneering project established by Zadie Smith, Hari Kunzru, Nick Laird, Rachel Holmes and Kamila Shamsie to investigate education and literacy around the world. In the first stage of the project, ten writers visited ten different countries, including Palestine, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa. Their resulting essays will be published online by Guernica Magazine. The project, which is funded by the Open Society Foundation, will be launched in front of a specially invited audience of writers, commentators and policy makers at the Free Word Centre, London.

Panelists: Oscar Guardiola-Rivera (chair), Michael Archer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Kamila Shamsie and Hugh McLean.

Log on at www.freewordonline.com at 6.45pm on Tuesday 17th January to livestream the event, and contribute your views and questions via the website and Twitter.
