At The End of the Rainbow
Presented by Nitro & All Change Arts
Wed 9 Mar 2011, 9:30am
Venue TBC
Nitro and All Change have commissioned three pairs of exceptional artists – Alex Wilson and HKB FiNN; Zena Edwards and Arun Ghosh; Robert Mitchell and Yemisi Blake – to creatively engage with three community groups in Islington – young parents, older people, and people from migrant communities - to explore what is ‘At the end of the Rainbow’. Inspired by conversations and creative activities, the artists have written and composed new pieces, which will be performed live for the first time at this special event to the communities that inspired them, and the public. The performances will be recorded and presented online following the event to enable the participants and wider audiences to enjoy them.
Showing alongside the live performances, will be photography and creative writing work from 'Painted Portraits', an All Change project led by Leticia Valverdes, made with the young parents and the NRPF group. ‘At the End of the Rainbow’ marks the first collaboration between Nitro, All Change and Free Word. Generations, is an ongoing community participation programme, pioneered by Nitro that inspires and engages people of all ages through performances, workshops and digital media resources. Generation’s brings together emerging and established artists to create new work with, and inspired by, marginalised community groups.
A key part of Generations is the development of strong online resources that will enable otherwise culturally disenfranchised audiences to access NITRO’s high quality artistic work. All Change works to develop and promote the role of the arts in society by bringing artists and people together to develop original, high quality and innovative arts projects, which promote artistic excellence and affect positive change for individuals and communities. www.nitro.co.uk www.allchangearts.org To book your place please call 020 7324 2570.
